Slow Faith, Sure Blessings

Proverbs 28:20 KJV A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
Listening to something on the Bible App today, and the Proverbs verse stuck out to me and led me to the following thoughts, so let's get into it.
We don’t mind being blessed…we just don’t always like the timeline God uses to get us there.
We want results that look like:
Amazon Prime shipping
overnight transformation
“I prayed about it this morning, and it showed up by lunch”
Meanwhile, God is over here like, “I’m building something that can actually last.”
And if we’re really honest? Sometimes it’s not that we don’t trust God…it’s that we don’t trust slow.
Because slow feels like:
nothing is happening
you’re being overlooked
everybody else is passing you up
But according to this scripture, slow + faithful = overflow.
Let’s talk about that word: faithful.
Faithful is:
doing the right thing when no one is clapping
choosing discipline when your feelings are loud
showing up when results are quiet
honoring God when shortcuts look real tempting
Faithful is not flashy.
Faithful doesn’t trend.
Faithful doesn’t always get immediate results.
But faithful? Gets blessed.
Now let’s talk about the other side…
“Making haste to be rich.”
Whew.
That’s not just about money.
That’s:
rushing into relationships because you feel behind
forcing opportunities because you’re tired of waiting
trying to “level up” without letting God develop you
It’s that quiet urgency that says, “God, I hear You… but I’m gonna help You out a little.”
And every time we do that, something gets compromised:
our peace
our integrity
our discernment
God is not anti-blessing. He’s anti-premature blessing.
Because what comes too fast can:
break you
distract you
or cost you more than it gave you
So what does this mean for you—right where you are?
It means:
You don’t have to rush your healing
You don’t have to force your success
You don’t have to settle just to say you “have something”
You just have to be faithful.
Because here’s the part we shout about:
“A faithful woman shall abound with blessings.”
Not scrape by. Not barely make it. Not “just enough.”
Abound.
That means:
blessings that stack
favor that multiplies
peace that doesn’t make sense
doors that open without you kicking them down
Prayer
Because we should pray without ceasing, say the following prayer to ask God for help concerning what we discussed today.
God, teach me how to be faithful in the quiet places.
Your Word says in Luke 16:10 that he that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much. Help me to honor You in the small, unseen moments, knowing they matter to You.
When I feel behind, remind me that to everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Settle my heart in Your timing so I do not rush ahead of You.
When I feel overlooked or discouraged, ground me in Galatians 6:9. Help me not grow weary in doing good, knowing I will reap in due season.
When I feel the urge to rush or force things, remind me through Proverbs 3:5-6 to trust in You with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding. Help me acknowledge You in all my ways so You can direct my path.
Teach me to move in peace, because Your Word says in Isaiah 26:3 that You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on You. Guard my thoughts and help me stay anchored in truth.
According to Proverbs 28:20, I choose to be faithful and not rushed, trusting that my life will abound with the blessings You have for me.
I surrender my timeline, my expectations, and my need for control. Build in me a steady, faithful spirit that trusts You fully.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Declaration
When you speak declarations, you’re agreeing with God’s truth over your emotions, your circumstances, and every lie trying to convince you otherwise, so say they following believing that it aligns with God's perfected will for your life.
I am a faithful woman. I do not rush what God is building in me or for me. I trust His process, even when it feels slow. I will not compromise for quick results. My consistency will produce abundance. And in God’s timing, I will abound with blessings.
Reflection
And finally, in your quiet time, reflect on or journal your answers to the following questions.
Where in my life am I feeling rushed right now?
What would faithfulness look like in that area this week?
What am I tempted to force that I need to release to God?
My heart's desire is that we all grow in grace and God's truth daily,
